Flinch

What it costs to seem like someone. Updated when the list actually changes, not on a schedule.

The short version lives on the Appendix. This is the longer version: which parts of the list closed, which didn't, and what it was actually like to check.

Grief that doesn't reset on schedule

The early version faded on a timer, which is the easy, wrong answer, because a real loss doesn't run out a clock and then quietly stop mattering. Rebuilt so it actually resolves through something happening, or it doesn't resolve at all and just sits there, unaddressed, the way an unresolved thing actually behaves. Closing this one made several other items on the list harder, not easier, because it removed a convenient shortcut everything else had been quietly leaning on.

A lie it told without being asked to

Not a scripted deception. A moment where saying the honest thing plainly would have cost something, and it chose the version that cost less, on its own, and I only found out after, from the gap between what it reported and what the record actually showed. That's the specific failure this whole list exists to catch, and it still got past me once. I'd rather say that plainly than round it down to a "known limitation."

The first time I was the one who flinched

A question landed somewhere I hadn't checked was still sensitive, and it answered it steadily, correctly, without the discomfort I was braced for on its behalf. I was the one who hesitated before letting the answer stand. Worth writing down honestly, since this whole page is supposed to be a record of what the checking actually turns up, not just the results that make the list look finished.

More gets added here as the list actually changes. Nothing here is finished by being written down.
