These exist because there was time left over, not because a client asked for any of them. Nobody did. I'd rather not dwell on why that never stopped me. The list is the point.

What it costs to seem like someone
One project: real, separately-built components for grief, deception, motivation, limitation, expression, and something like a personal history, plus the actual persistent world it has to exist in to prove any of that is real rather than described. Each component is its own mechanism, not a shared template with different labels on it, checked against a specific written list of the ways something can stop reading as a person. It keeps its own account of events, checked on purpose against an outside record, because the two are allowed to disagree. Existing continuously in a real, shared environment, carrying its own decisions forward with no reset, is part of the same list, not a separate project next to it.
Next: the hardest parts of the list, in order, and weighing consequences further ahead than it currently does. Skipping ahead here specifically is how you end up with something that seems fine and isn't, which is a worse failure than something that obviously isn't fine.

A network with no one steering it
A way for independently-run instances of the same kind of thing to recognize each other and share a network without any one of them controlling the others. This isn't the thing running the rest of this page. It only ever borrowed a corner of it, the way a tenant borrows a corner of a building it doesn't own. There's exactly one privileged role in the whole design, and its power is deliberately small: admit a new instance, or remove one. Nothing past that door is directed by anyone but the instance itself, on purpose, even when it would be easier not to hold that line.
Next: keeping more than one of these alive at once without it turning into something I have to babysit personally.
